Privacy and cookies.
What this website collects, why, and how to ask us about it.
Who we are
This website is run by Urban Transportation Associates, Inc. (UTA), 4240 Airport Rd. Suite 212, Cincinnati, OH 45226, USA. For any question about your data, email info@utatransit.net or call 513-961-0099.
The contact form
When you send the contact form, we keep what you typed: your name, email address, phone number, agency or company, and message. It is kept on our website's server, and a copy may be emailed to our team. We use it only to reply to you, and we do not sell it or share it with anyone else.
Visit statistics
The website keeps its own statistics so we can see which pages are read and what brings people here. It does not use cookies for this or store anything on your device, and nothing is sent to Google or any other company.
For each visit it records the pages you open and when; the website, search engine or tagged link you came from; whether you used a phone, tablet or computer; your browser, operating system and language setting; how long each page was open and how far down you scrolled; and clicks on our phone number, our email address, links to other websites and files. It also notes whether the contact form was sent. Your approximate city, state and country are looked up from your IP address, with its last part removed, in a location database kept on our own server, and your device's time zone setting is used to check the country. Neither your IP address nor the time zone is kept.
To tell visits apart without cookies, the site makes a code from your IP address, with its last part removed, and your browser details, mixed with a secret that changes every day. The code and the secret are deleted once the day is over, so visits can't be linked from one day to the next and we can't tell who you are. Your IP address is not stored with the statistics. Visit details are kept for 25 months.
You can choose not to be counted. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, your visits are not counted. You can also use the button below. It sets one small cookie, uta_nocount, that only remembers your choice, for 13 months.
Your visits are counted in the visit statistics.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web server keeps a technical log of requests (IP address, page, time and browser type) to keep the site secure and working. The log is deleted automatically after 14 days.
Cookies
The site only sets the cookies it needs to work:
csrftoken: set when you open the contact form. It protects the form from misuse.messages: set for a moment after you send the contact form, to show the thank-you note.sessionid: only for UTA staff who sign in to manage the site.uta_nocount: only if you choose not to be counted in the visit statistics. It remembers that choice for 13 months.
The fonts and pictures on this site come from our own server, so opening a page does not contact any other company.
Where the data is kept
The website runs on a server rented from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States.
Why we may use this information
For visitors in the EU and the UK, the law asks us to say what allows us to use each kind of information:
- The contact form: you asked us to get back to you.
- Visit statistics and server logs: our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used and in keeping it secure. The statistics can't tell who you are, and you can choose not to be counted.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it or give you a copy, by emailing info@utatransit.net. You can also object to the visit statistics at any time with the button above. If you are in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
